Custom Rowe Furniture sofas, chairs and ottomans styled in a living room designed and styled by The Shop Design Shop Interiors in Granite Bay CA

The Upholstery Edit: 7 Timeless Rowe Furniture Pieces We Love at The Shop in Granite Bay

There’s a reason custom upholstery remains one of the most transformative investments in interior design. A thoughtfully designed piece doesn't just complete a room — it shapes how the space is used every single day.

The living room is where mornings begin slowly, where guests naturally gather, where kids pile in after long days, and where everyday moments quietly unfold. The best custom upholstery furniture pieces feel beautiful, but they also feel deeply aligned with the rhythm of a home.

At The Shop in Granite Bay, we believe in furniture that balances timeless design with real-life livability. That’s why we’ve partnered with American-made upholstery brand Rowe Furniture — known for its thoughtful craftsmanship, customizable silhouettes, performance fabrics, washable slipcovers, modular sectionals, and highly livable design approach. From custom sectionals for open-concept homes to slipcovered sofas designed for everyday family living, swivel chairs that anchor a sitting area, and ottomans that complete a space, Rowe Furniture has become one of our favorite upholstery brands to specify for clients throughout Granite Bay and the greater Sacramento area.

One of the greatest advantages of custom upholstery is the ability to tailor each piece specifically to your home and lifestyle.

From dimensions and seat depth to cushion fill and fabric selection, our interior design team works closely with clients throughout the design process to ensure every detail feels intentional, functional, and beautifully resolved. Whether selecting a slipcovered sofa for a family living room or a modular sectional for a great room, each decision is made with how you truly live in mind.

The result is upholstery that feels as functional as it is beautiful.

These are just a few of Design Shop Interiors’ favorite Rowe upholstery pieces — silhouettes Leyla repeatedly places in our Granite Bay showroom and our designers consistently specify for client projects. They are the sofas, sectionals, accent chairs, and ottomans we return to again and again because they deliver the rare combination of comfort, versatility, and timeless appeal.

Why We Love Rowe Furniture

Rowe Furniture continues to be one of our favorite upholstery brands because it combines thoughtful craftsmanship with real-life livability. From washable slipcovers and performance fabrics to customizable configurations and American-made quality, Rowe pieces are designed to evolve beautifully alongside everyday life.

The Asher Modular Sectional

If there’s one piece our team consistently recommends for large living spaces, it’s the Asher Sectional.

The beauty of the Asher is its flexibility. The oversized modular design allows the sectional to evolve with a space over time, making it especially ideal for great rooms, open-concept homes, and families who want seating that feels generous without looking heavy. Its modular configuration also makes it ideal for homes that prioritize flexibility, entertaining, and relaxed everyday living.

Because the pieces can be reconfigured, the Asher adapts beautifully as layouts change — something we especially appreciate in homes designed for long-term living.

Comfort is another reason designers love this silhouette. Rowe offers three cushion options, allowing clients to customize comfort and support based on how they actually live::

  • Harmony — the most supportive and structured option

  • Cloud — softer with a relaxed, sink-in feel

  • Bliss — the plushest and most lounge-worthy of the three

The Asher can be upholstered traditionally or fully slipcovered, and we often recommend the slipcovered version for family homes. The removable covers are washable, practical, and incredibly forgiving for everyday life, while still maintaining a relaxed, elevated look.

Combined with Rowe’s extensive fabric collection, the Asher becomes one of the most versatile and livable sectionals we offer.

The Bristol Sofa

The Bristol Sofa is one of those rare silhouettes that works beautifully in almost any setting.

Its softly curved frame, classic keyhole arms, and tailored profile feel timeless without feeling overly formal, which makes it versatile across a range of aesthetics — from relaxed traditional homes to more collected, transitional interiors. It’s especially well suited for homeowners looking for timeless upholstery that feels elevated without becoming overly formal.

One of the reasons we continue to specify the Bristol is because it strikes such a beautiful balance between refinement and comfort. The proportions feel polished, but the overall silhouette still invites you to truly live in it.

We especially love this piece upholstered in velvets, textured performance fabrics, and warm neutrals, where the subtle shaping, keyhole arm detailing, and thoughtful craftsmanship become even more apparent.

In our True Farmhouse project — a working farm and family home — we selected a rust-colored performance fabric for the Bristol Sofa. The piece brings warmth, richness, and softness into the living room while still holding up beautifully for everyday family life.

The Bristol is proof that timeless upholstery doesn’t have to feel predictable.

The Sylvie Sofa

The Sylvie is one of our favorite examples of how clean, understated upholstery can still make a major impact in a room.

Available as both a sofa and sectional, and even as a sleeper sofa, the Sylvie offers an impressive range of customization options, including multiple sizing configurations and two different seat depths depending on how you like to lounge. For clients searching for customizable sofas that still feel clean and architectural, the Sylvie consistently becomes a favorite.

Its silhouette is incredibly streamlined, with subtle detailing that keeps the piece feeling modern yet approachable. Our team especially loves the bench seat option, which gives the sofa a quieter, more architectural feel and keeps the overall profile looking clean and uninterrupted.

Because the lines are so simple, the Sylvie works beautifully as a foundational piece within layered interiors. It anchors a room without competing with it.

We often specify the Sylvie in soft textured linens and tonal neutrals where the simplicity of the silhouette can really shine. It’s calm, effortless, and timeless — exactly what foundational upholstery should feel like.

The Madeline Sofa

The Madeline Sofa brings a little more personality into a space while still feeling classic enough to live with for years.

What immediately sets this silhouette apart is the exposed foot detail, which gives the piece a slightly more collected feel compared to a fully skirted or simplified sofa. There’s a softness to the shape, but also a level of polish that makes it feel thoughtfully designed.

This is one of our favorite silhouettes for clients who want something timeless, but not too safe. Our designers frequently specify the Madeline in projects where clients want their upholstery to feel collected, layered, and slightly more personalized.

Because the frame itself has so much charm, the Madeline becomes an especially fun piece to upholster. We love it in fabrics with patterns or visible texture that add another layer of character.

The Madeline instantly makes a room feel more curated.

In our Pars Oak project, we selected a striped linen for the Madeline that brought softness and movement into the room while still feeling refined.

For our 2025 Holiday Collection, we upholstered the silhouette in a dusty pink velvet — proof that a classic frame can still feel playful, layered, and unexpected.

The Hollins Swivel Chair

A swivel chair is often one of the hardest-working pieces in a living room, and the Hollins continues to be one of our favorites for its balance of comfort and versatility.

The silhouette feels soft and inviting without losing its tailored shape, making it ideal for living rooms that need flexibility and function while still feeling elevated.

We often use swivel chairs to help a room feel more conversational — allowing seating to shift easily between fireplaces, televisions, kitchens, or larger entertaining spaces — and the Hollins does this beautifully.

One detail we especially appreciate is Rowe’s One Price Design Program, which allows clients to select from several elevated upholstery fabrics without dramatically impacting pricing. That flexibility allows clients to select more unique or elevated fabrics without dramatically impacting pricing.

The result is a chair that feels highly customized, approachable, and easy to incorporate into a variety of homes.

The Noel Swivel Chair

The Noel Swivel Chair is another upholstery piece we consistently return to for spaces that need comfort and flexibility without sacrificing refinement.

Compared to more structured accent chairs, the Noel feels slightly more relaxed and approachable. It instantly softens a room.

We especially love the Noel in textured neutrals, boucle-inspired fabrics, and soft performance textiles where the curves and shaping feel even more inviting.

Because the silhouette is simple and versatile, the Noel works equally well paired with more traditional upholstery pieces or layered into more modern spaces.

It’s approachable, timeless, and endlessly easy to style — exactly the kind of upholstery piece we believe creates longevity within a home.

The Cleo Ottoman

The Cleo Ottoman is one of those deceptively versatile pieces that quietly completes a room.

Its soft sculptural shape adds visual interest without overwhelming a space, which allows it to function beautifully in so many different ways — layered into a seating area, tucked beneath a console, styled at the foot of a bed, or used as a softer alternative to a traditional coffee table. We especially love incorporating ottomans like the Cleo into layered living rooms where flexibility and softness are equally important.

What we love most about the Cleo is how well the silhouette translates across materials.

In leather, it feels rich and tailored. In stripes or patterned fabrics, it feels playful. In textured neutrals, it becomes quietly architectural.

No matter the application, the shape always feels intentional. It’s proof that even smaller upholstery pieces can completely shift the feeling of a room.

In our Oak Avenue project, a pair of leather Cleo Ottomans helped ground the living room while adding warmth and softness to the overall design.

In the Grass Valley Ranch Home, we used a larger-scale version as a coffee table alternative in the primary bedroom, creating a space that feels layered, comfortable, and relaxed.

In our True Farmhouse project, striped Cleo Ottomans brought just the right amount of playfulness into the living room.
